Custom buttons

A custom button is what turns a table into a working system: instead of someone editing four fields by hand, they press "Close as won" and it all happens at once.

Adding one

In the Module Builder, the "Custom Actions" section, press "Add Custom Action":

  • Action name: the button's label as the team reads it, such as "Mark as sold"
  • Icon: check, arrow or star
  • Run once: stops the button running twice on the same record

The two built-in actions

Beside your own buttons, every module has Edit and Delete. You can switch either off from the same section if you do not want it in the table.

Giving the button its steps

A button on its own does nothing until you build its steps. Once the module is saved, press "Configure workflow" next to the button, or open the Workflows page. Before saving you see the hint "Save module to configure workflows".

The rest is in how a workflow runs.

Run once

"Run once" suits buttons there is no sense in repeating: creating a contract, or sending a welcome email. After the first successful run on a record, the button stops working on that record.
